Athirapally is Kerala's most dramatic waterfall and an easy, rewarding nature escape from Kochi. The nearest airport is Kochi (COK), around two hours by road through pleasant countryside; it's also easily combined with a Munnar or Thekkady drive. There's no local railway, so guests arrive by road, typically from Kochi or Thrissur. We arrange comfortable private transfers throughout.
The falls are spectacular from September to January, when post-monsoon flow is strong and the weather pleasant. The June to August monsoon makes the cascades truly thunderous and the forest intensely green, though paths can be slippery — always follow safety signage near the water.
Wear sturdy, non-slip footwear for the walk down to the falls, and take care on wet rocks near the edge. Carry a rain layer and dry bag for your camera, start early to enjoy the falls before crowds, and keep some cash for entry tickets and local snacks.
