Established in 1936, Jim Corbett is India's oldest national park and part of Project Tiger. Its mix of sal forest, grassland and river creates rich habitat for tigers, Asian elephants, leopards, deer and abundant birds. Safaris are the heart of any visit here.
The park is divided into zones, each with its own character and permit.
The main season runs from around November to June, with Jhirna and Dhela open year-round. Spring's dry months improve sightings as animals gather near water, while the core zones usually close during the monsoon from mid-June. We plan around the right window.
The nearest airport is Dehradun, and Delhi is a common alternative with more flights and a scenic drive to Ramnagar, the park's gateway. Ramnagar also has a railway station. Flights from South India are additional to the land package.
