Jaisalmer is reached by seasonal flights and overnight trains from Jaipur and Delhi. Bikaner is also well connected by rail. From either city, the dunes and safari starting points are a short drive, arranged for you.
October to March is ideal, with warm days and cool nights perfect for riding and camping. Winter desert nights are cold, so pack warm layers. The midsummer heat makes safaris unadvisable.
