The route climbs through open grassland to a summit crowned by a small Shiva shrine. The last part is a short, steepish walk; much of the ascent can also be driven for those who prefer it.
Bring layers, water, grippy shoes and a wind-cheater — the summit is breezy and can be misty. Early mornings offer the clearest views above the clouds.
The nearest airport is Mangalore (about 3.5–4 hours), with Bengaluru (about 5–6 hours by road) offering the widest flight choice. The closest railheads are Kadur and Birur, about an hour away, with Hassan also well connected. We arrange comfortable private transfers for the scenic hill drive.
September to February for clear, green conditions. The monsoon is dramatic but slippery; we advise based on current weather.
