Beach shacks are temporary seasonal restaurants that spring up along the sand each winter, serving fresh seafood, cold drinks and Goan classics with your feet quite literally in the sand. They range from lively music-filled spots in the north to candle-lit tables in the south. Sunset is prime time, so arrive early for the best seats.
North Goa shacks around Baga, Anjuna and Vagator lean lively, with music, cocktails and crowds. South Goa shacks at Palolem, Agonda and Colva are gentler and more romantic, ideal for a quiet candle-lit dinner. Our tour samples both so you feel the full spectrum.
The shack season runs roughly November to May, when the beaches are dry and the shacks fully open. December to February offers the finest weather but the biggest crowds and prices. Come in the shoulder months for a calmer, better-value feast.
