Bundi offers the romance of Rajasthan at a gentler pace. There are no tour-bus crowds here — just painted palaces, echoing stepwells and blue lanes where daily life unfolds unhurried. It is a photographer's and history-lover's dream, and a refreshing change from the bigger cities.
The Bundi Palace's Chitrashala holds some of the finest Rajput miniature murals anywhere, all peacock blues and greens. Above it, Taragarh Fort rewards the climb with valley views and a wonderfully wild, overgrown atmosphere.
Once called the 'city of stepwells', Bundi has dozens of these architectural marvels. Raniji ki Baori is the showpiece — a deep, intricately carved well that shows the engineering and artistry of medieval Rajasthan.
